David Romhilt, CFA

David Romhilt is a Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Summit Trail Advisors. As Chief Investment Officer, David’s industry-recognized work on asset allocation and manager selection guides Summit Trail’s centralized advice team. Prior to founding Summit Trail, David was a Managing Director at Barclays Wealth. There he was Global Head of Alternatives, Head of Manager Due Diligence, and the Chief Investment Officer of Barclays Wealth Trustees, N.A. His responsibilities included Separate Account, Mutual Fund, Hedge Fund, and Private Equity manager due diligence. He served a similar role for Lehman Brothers and Lehman Brothers Trust Company, N.A. prior to Barclays’ acquisition of Lehman Brothers in September of 2008. He had arrived at Lehman Brothers in 2003 when they acquired Neuberger Berman Trust Company, N.A. just two years after David helped build an open architecture wealth management business there. David created the asset allocation, manager selection, portfolio construction, and performance reporting process for Neuberger’s trust clients with over $1.5b in assets under management. He began his career at Cambridge Associates LLC focusing on performance reporting and manager selection for many well-known foundations and endowments. David is a CFA® Charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

David has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & History from Wake Forest University.
